答案：Daphne the daughter of Peneus, a river god, was Apollo’s first love. (1’) It was caused by the malice of Eros, the god of lust, love and sex, who was angry because Apollo had made fun of his archery skills. (2’) Eros drew from his quiver two arrows of different workmanship, one to excite love, the other to repel it. The former was of gold and sharp pointed the latter blunt and tipped with lead. With the leaden shaft he struck the nymph Daphne, and with the golden one Apollo, through the heart. (2’) Henceforth the god was seized with love for the maiden, and she hated the thought of loving. He followed her and she fled. (1’) Finally Daphne asked her father to change her form. Then she was changed into a laurel tree. (2’) Apollo decorated his crown, harp and quiver with the tree. And when the great warriors got victory, they would be presented with the wreaths of laurel. The tree became an evergreen tree since then. (2’)
