I realized that Paris, of all cities, is more than a city. It is a symbol—a symbol of what we’ve put off or longed for, a symbol of a beauty that is usually just out of reach. It represents the dreams of so many different people. Maybe we can’t always stop bad things from happening, but we can make good things happen. We can buy a ticket to the city of our dreams, wherever that may be.
